Practical Maths in Year 7
Today we tried to increase the size of a chocolate bar by going from 24 pieces to 25 pieces. It was all in the cutting and re-arranging the pieces. Great work Year 7! Of course we shared the remaining pieces at the end!

Year 7 classroom was turned into a crime scene this morning. We have all been investigators today to try and find out what happened. Who was it? What happened? Why?

Macbeth and Witchcraft in Year 7
We had a great literacy lesson this morning looking at the power of the Witches in Macbeth and how different the story would be had it not been for the prophecy at the start.

Animation Workshop for KS3
We had a great introduction to animation skills this afternoon when we all gathered in the Heart Space to watch, discuss and design cartoon characters. We are all looking forward to creating a great animated version of Macbeth.

Our Biographies
In Year 7 we looked at biographies and decided to wrote a biography about Dr Harold Shipman who was infamous for being Britain’s most prolific killer. This shows the process we took of gathering information, planning and drafting before producing the final biography.

KS3 Immersive Experience: The Trenches
KS3 had an amazing immersive experience today. They had the opportunity to ask Private Henry Fairhurst à lot of questions related to WW1 and his experience in the trenches.

Who was Private Fairhurst?
Today we have learnt a few facts about Private Fairhurst by looking at some of his belongings from WW1. We know he was a miner before joining the Regiment in 1914 and was sent to France to fight during the war. He was to be married on his return. We also found out he was from Barnsley!

The Rice Experiment in Year 7
During our SEAL lesson we looked at the Rice Experiment and how love, hate or neglect can affect things. Ripley created a monitoring sheet for us to record our findings in the next couple of weeks. We will keep everyone posted!

Using coordinates to create a picture
We realized today that it is so much easier to complete a jigsaw when we can use coordinates to locate all pieces! A practical maths lesson enjoyed by all.

Positive Play- Minecraft together- being kind
As part of Kindness week we have decided to play together on each other’s world and make sure that we send each other kindness messages. We looked at how sometimes we receive unkind messages when we are gaming and we thought about how it makes us feel. Thankfully today we were all very kind to everyone!

Our topic was Fantastic Beasts this half term. We enjoyed writing our own stories about beasts and mysterious creatures. Today we went to Primary 1 to read our stories to the pupils. They very much enjoyed our fantastic imaginative writing!

Stress relief flour babies
Year 7 had a great time making flour babies today to use when we feel a bit stressed or anxious. We had a great time but we also demonstrated we are getting very resilient as it is really hard to make these!
