Team building
In todays SEAL lesson year 10 worked very hard on team building activities. Lots of fun was had by all.

Fractions in Primary 4
Some fantastic fractions work happening in Primary 4 this morning.

How was the World created?
Primary 5 have reflected on how the world could have been created. We discussed what Christians believe and then gave our opinions on how we think the World was created. We found the more we thought about it, the more questions we needed answering!

Settling to learn
Year 10 having being working hard to use co-operative play to help them settle to learn. So far it has being a great success with a much improved week by all.

Crucial-Crew Rotherham, Year 11 trip
The Y11 team went to Crucial-Crew, learning new skills for life, engaging in life learning.

Year 8 made Hamantaschen, a Jewish biscuit
Year 8 staff and pupils worked as a team making the Hamantaschen biscuits. We had a production line working with everyone having a different part in the production. Hamantaschen are a sweet oranged flavoured pastry with chocolate or marmalade fillings

DT
In DT, we have been working hard to make our clocks. Not only are we making a fantastic piece but we have done some amazing research and coursework to go with it.

Communication Skills
In SEAL we have been working on communication skills and instruction giving. We used the play doh to create animals and creatures using instructions. We then played communi-draw. In pairs we took it in turns to give instructions to our partners of what to draw. For example to draw a flower we started with the instruction “in the middle of the page, draw a medium sized oval”

Primary 4 made gyrocopters in science. We then discussed the two forces that act upon the gyrocopter as it drops.

Primary 4 had a great time feeding the animals at Springwell farm.

Using coordinates to create a picture
We realized today that it is so much easier to complete a jigsaw when we can use coordinates to locate all pieces! A practical maths lesson enjoyed by all.

Positive Play- Minecraft together- being kind
As part of Kindness week we have decided to play together on each other’s world and make sure that we send each other kindness messages. We looked at how sometimes we receive unkind messages when we are gaming and we thought about how it makes us feel. Thankfully today we were all very kind to everyone!

Kindness week
As part of kindness week, we had a kindness circle time in Springwell@Forest. We talked about kindness, nominated people who were kind to us and made recipes for kindness. Springwell@Forest are a kind class!

Yr 8 played games at the end of the day. The aim was for the pupil to cross the room first while staff tried to pull them back to prevent their victory.

Children in need fundraiser in Primary 2
We have raised awareness about children in need by doing a sponsored cycle to raise money for the charity

Class 3 Visit Springwell Farm
Mr Walker gave Class 3 a brilliant morning of activities at the farm today. The visit started with a tour of the site and an introduction to the animals. Everyone stroked Casper the rabbit and most pupils groomed one of the Shetland ponies. After the tour the pupils planted Remembrance Day trees around the fence. Finally they all played together in the forest area where they hid in the dens and played hide and seek.

Mental Health Roadshow
Thank you to Kirk Balk AA for putting on the mental health roadshow. The pupils made fiddle toys and stress balls to use as calming strategies when they feel angry or upset.

Mental Health Roadshow
On Monday three students from Kirk Balk Alternative Academy put on a mental health awareness roadshow for pupils at Springwell Special Academy. Class 3 went along and had a great time making all sorts of things. Their favourite was making stress toys with balloons and flour. By the end of the session all pupils were more aware of some of the mental health issues faced by people every day. THANK YOU KIRK BALK.

Year 7 re tell the story of Diwali
Year 7 re created the story of Diwali as a storyboard. Well some, some amazing pieces of writing!

Brick club!
At Highfields we were lucky enough to have a go at using the Brick Club box, we worked in teams of three to build some fantastic models then worked on some creative play with the figures and smaller sets.

Key Stage 3 Indian Dancing Workshop
Key stage 3 were up for a treat this afternoon with an interactive Indian Dancing workshop. They danced, clapped, played with sticks, dressed up as monkeys, acted in an Indian wedding play and listened to Indian music. So great moves and great acting skills from all years. Well done KS3!
